Personal Property - really how specific? list junk?

Setting: I am a 20-something college kid that just got off a bad 2 month leg injury that has no money, no assets, no school loans, that ran up a HUGE cc debt for the last 8 years.

In regards to "Household goods and furnishings, including audio, video,..."

I only listed a VCR ($10), Office chair ($15), Vacuum ($10), George forman grill ($5), and a cordless drill ($10). That is really all I own. I have a pair of old tennis shoes and a pair of old black dress shoes plus some old dress shirts/slacks (for work and probably worthless). I do have an apt with minimal junk silverware/plates/cups and a couple of those "free" nylon folding chairs. The computer I have (only electronic thing in my apt) is my brothers. OK, I think I bought the $3.99 powerstrip at the dollar store last year. I'm housepoor and bankpoor.

Do you think this trustee man will get suspicious that I am only claiming to have five items in that category?

just out of curiosity, how much cc debt are we talking here? When was the last time you used the card and what kind of stuff did you use it for? ( the reason I ask is because you say you have very little in belongings, but if your cc purchases dispute that than it might be a red flag)

I think most people just summarize what they have, such as "Misc. Household Items" $X; Clothing $X; etc.

I was nosy, and looked up on Pacer the petition of someone else at the 341 today. Her hearing lasted about 30 seconds-no exageration. I'm guessing she is a student, because she works part time and has $20,000 in student loans but is not paying them yet (according to her expense schedule). She listed about $500 in misc. household items.

I almsot forgot-she filed on $19,000 in credit cards. No medial bills, or anything else.

I honestly have never used a credit card in over two years. All my accounts have been closed years ago. I have been paying with cash or cash from my checkCard (mastercrap, veesa). I will admit that I lived a lavish life over three years ago but...

I did spend a portion of that on tuition; I was ineligible to get any school loans because my parents make too much money. It is sad that it has come to this. With my current pay scale (and factoring in increases in pay), it would take me several years; probably between 6-8 before I could pay off my debt. We're talking about forty here. I have to pay for food, car, shelter. When calculating this, I tried to be realistic. Yeah - I could probably pay it off in like 4-5 years but only if I lived in an inner-city $hithole apartment and survived off of Ramen noodles.

Is there a way in my chap. 7 paperwork I could explain the extreme financial peril I have been thru in the last few months due to my injury? I was living paycheck to paycheck and that injury "blew up the dam". The workers comp company refused to pay me for like 8 weeks until they finally had me see one of their doc's who ended up telling them that I was truelly injured. Obviously I filed complaint with the state but I won't see them until december. What a mess. I have enough "rainy day" money to only cover my insurance, car and rent payment for one month. Now I my interest rates on my 7 credit cards are at all time highs of 30%, 27%, 29%,...

          Like $450/mo in pure interest...wtf...

Nah... that's just an 8 and a 3 and a few zeros, and we all know that zeros mean nil... lol Just basic Enron-style accounting ....just mix the numbers up, subtract a number here and there... and well... doesn't amount to much!

The personal property items shouldn't be a problem if you haven't used the cards in 2 years.
There are 2 questions which you did not mention and may impact your filing.
                1. Did you or are you about to receive a lump settlement from workmen's comp and is there or will there be a law suit or potential large check coming?
                2. If you are back to work, what are your expenses vs. your income. I'm afraid that if you could pay off those cards in 8 years at those high interest rates, then you would prob. qualify for a chap. 13 and to pay off a portion of them over 5 years. Around here, it used to be that you could have $300 or so a month in excess. Under the new law, as I understand it, if you can afford even $100 a month, then you will be forced into chap. 13. Word is that the Trustees around here have already begun moving toward the new law guidelines as far as income/expenses are concerned.
                Best of luck.
