My 341 meeting in NC Eastern District Blow by Blow

Well, new to the forum. I have surfed the pages many times and the info on here has both helped me and freaked me out!! Our 341 meeting is over and done with and I wanted to share how it went. We filed in NC Eastern District and were told to report on Wed Nov 4th @ 9:30.

What my lawyer did not tell my husband and I is that like over 150 people are also reporting at 9:30! We all had to wait in line to go through the metal detector into a large room where the trustee had a small table in the front. Lawyers were sitting all around him and it was a little informal as some of the lawyers were laughing with him (ours was one that was buddy buddy with him!). The meeting started with the trustee lecturing all over 150 of us about the BK process and what Chapter 7 & 13 is. It went on for about 15 minutes. We then all took an oath and the court reporter (or his assistant) started calling cases. Out lawyer had a print out of the order of cases and we were #75. So we knew we were gonna be there a loooooong time. We were able to come and go and finally 3 hours later we left for some lunch.

I did not hear much about the cases since the trustee was very quiet and we were seated in the back but he was seemed very fair and treated everyone very nicely saying "goog luck to you" after each case. He only in 1 instance asked for bank statements and it was for a guy who auctioned off company stuff. There were a couple people that were obviously lying and hiding stuff and he spent more time with them (some for 20 inutes) but he still was very nice.

Finally we were called at 2:35. He asked us:
Were you present this morning and sworn in?
Did you file you tax return late this year?
Was all the information on your schedules accurate at the time of filling?

He confirmed what we are surrendering and reaffirming and asked my husband what line of work he was in and if he was self employed (he is a realtor and works for a builder). Then that was it!!!

No mention of wanting our tax return which by the way was very large last year. Our case was pretty straight forward though. No assett but over
$100k unsecured debt and surrendering one home and one car ($410k secured)
