You can still file. If you're defaulting on two home loans and you just became unemployed, you should have no trouble proving your debt-to-income ratio is too much, and thus qualifies you for a Ch 7.
I'm not sure but I think part of the reason people let the CCs go unpaid for a few months is so they can save up some cash for 'starting over' and for the lawyer & filing fees. If you're down to one income, though, I don't blame you if you want to go ahead and file.

Do you have to be behind on CC payments before filing BK? I'm only about 30 days behind on mine and mostly late all the time.
You'll want to show a history of being unable to make your payments.
