    Auto Gift after 341?

Hi all, hope you are gearing up for 2006, right around the corner. My question: Sister wants to give me her old Ford Explorer. I am in the high desert (snowy) with a sportscar and two dogs. My 341 meeting is over. The vehicle is valued at 3-4K I am told. Should I accept or buy on my own in February after discharge? Would this cause any problems for me at this point in the process? Discharge 1/23/06 on Pacer. What do you think?

I'd think you would be fine. But, if you're worried, why not just wait to put it in your name?

i dont think the trustee cares. could she leave it in her name? or she could transfer it as lien holder and you could have a document stating that you owe her $4000 for it. and after the discharge she can give you letter paind in full and release lien on it from DMV. this is all if you are worried about it.
Im not an attorney or a trustee. You cant trust me either though!

Thanks everyone for your opinion. I love the little pictures you all have. Wanted to share what was said on the news here (Wednesday 12/28)) about the increase in credit card minimum payments going into effect Jan. 1. I believe this to be a flat-out lie: "Due to the increase in Holiday spending, and banks being so overextended with Holiday credit, the Fed (?) is requiring creditors to increase the minimum payment due. Some cardholders will be in for a shock." Then went on to interview a Consumer Credit Rep., who provided a list of things one could eliminate from their life to beable to pay this increase (Cell phone, cable TV, Starbucks). She then advised: The worst thing you can do is 'not pay.' 'Get on the phone,' she said. I have a humble feeling that sooner-than-later BK on a credit report will become less significant, compared to what is happening out there. Happy New Year today! (BKFiler: How did you make that picture?)

The change in minimum payments is the end result of a movement that started a long time ago. It has nothing to do w/ holiday spending.
