    Reaffirm after Discharge?

I have a car that I listed as redemption on my original petition. I'm now discharged. Can I reaffirm after I've been discharged in order to keep in good standing and have them report my on-time payments?

Or can you only reaffirm before discharge?

you would have to re-open the bk if for some reason you wanted to re-affirm. that costs $250 just to start it and its up to the judge to reopen it.

Reaffirmation has to happen before discharge. If you keep the payment up to date, you should be fine.

There are advantages to NOT reaffirming, especially if you are relatively new in the loan. If you apply for a mortgage, that payment will not count against you in your debt to income ratio. And, if things change where you can't handle the payment or don't need the vehicle-you can give it back without consequence.
Most of my information is from personal experience or HOURS and HOURS of online research. When you're searching online, keep in mind there is no guarantee that the info is completely up to date, and your situation is unique from anyone else's. Do your homework, and consult with an attorney so you can make an informed decision.

I have a similar question... I listed my morgage on my Bk papers as " going to keep/good intentions,,, whatever its called" My morgage company listes it on my credit report as included in Bk But it was not, I still make regular monthly payments and so forth... any way to get them to show our timely pmts. on our credit report???? We were discharged in August 2005

Shygal-if you did not reaffirm, then the debt was included in BK so they are reporting correctly. You don't owe the debt, but by paying as agreed you get to keep the house.

also, adding that you might be able to get them to report it after the final payment. or at least give you a letter of payment history. those are some other ideas.
