    Help me please

Like I stated a while ago I have already had my 341 meeting, and my bk should be discharged on 2-17 hopefully if all goes well.

    Anyways.....

I got a call this morning, and on my caller ID it said "Out of Area" So I have know idea who it is, when I answer the phone the only thing that was said is "Do you have a son named and he said my name. I then said no but this is him speaking, and then I heard them hang up the phone. now that got me very nervous. I have no idea why someone would do that. Only thing I can think of is maybe it was a skip tracer trying to locate me for a creditor has anyone had someone do that to them? or heard of anything like that?

Well if it was a skip tracer for a creditor, and it was someone I forgot to list on my bk can I still list them if I receive something in the mail even hough my 341 has passed? and if I do list them will it change the 2-17 discharge date.

    more importantly,

If It was a skip tracer and it was a debt I forgot to list, and they don't send anything to me until after my discharge date am I still responsible for paying it then? or will it still be discharged? Reason I ask is because since I filled on 10-12 I filled pro se, and I pulled my credit report to get all my creditors, since then I have been getting notices from creditors that where not on my credit report, and I added them to my bk no problem, but I am affraid one of these creditors that was not on my credit report will contact me after bk discharge and my question is, will I be safe or have to pay it since I didn't list it.

I know there are a lot of questions in this post, but if anyone could answer 1 or all of them I would be so happy.

bottom line here is i wouldnt worry about it. it probably is someone trying to collect a debt. who else could it be right?

so no big deal. most states, check your statues, allow you to accidentally leave people off your filing. if you are discharged then its all gone and if it was a no asset case also then they wouldnt have gotten anything anyways so it wouldnt matter.

if you figure out you left someone off then go add them of forget them.

skip tracers are very cunning (or so they think lol) they will do anything to get info to sell.

as far as changing the discharge date, if its no asset then i dont think its goona matter. not sure on that though.

Thank you for your help, but have you heard of a skip tracer just doing that, I just want to make sure it was a skip tracer. I have never heard of anyone just saying do you have a son named? then after saying yes this is him hanging up. If he was a skip tracer wouldn't he then try to collect the debt? or are skip tracers just a middle man and he would report it back to the creditor?

they can and will do anything to see where you live. i dont know who it was. if they wanted to collect right then and there then they would. who knows what level of skip tracer they are. maybe they just locate info.

you are in bk now. no worries

For future reference - Never answer your door to stangers if you are alone. Never answer stangers questions on the phone. Lie, tell them they have the wrong number...Ask them questions, who are you? why do you want to know?
Ask them for a return number. (you aint gonna get it, I promise)
Lastly, just hang up or in the future don't answer. I have caller id and an answering machine for a reason, its called call screening.
I'll be watching, you may never know when or how, but I'll be there. I am there now....

I totally agree with sunshine08. I have instructed my son not to answer the phone when we are not home. If a number appears on the caller id he is to call me at work with the number. If there is no number I dont answer it either. You will just have to wait and see what happens but NEVER tell them anything. Make them identify themselves and what they want; it is your phone so you dont owe them any information.

Bk - did you compliment me? Too bright..

Oh, I'll answer the door..... Just not to a bill collector.............. And I don't have that to worry about.. Besides let them try and find me, they can't pronunce the town's (that is an exageration) name let alone find it....

thank god, I don't owe anybody except student loan, 2 vehicle payments, house and utilities........
Am even at the point of adding to my savings account...... Won't the credit union be surprised to see that.
Am teaching two classes this semester (6 hours a week) and have a couple hours of overtime on my next 2 checks from work (we only get paid once a month - whether we want it or not).......
I'll be watching, you may never know when or how, but I'll be there. I am there now....
