    Bankruptcy and Auditing-HELP!

Ok, this might seem like a stupid question, but I need an answer. We were led to believe that if we took out our 401k early, we could file at any time within the next three years. The same goes with any taxes. If a person chose to not file certain taxes, they could file whenever within 3 years. Obviously, we were wrong. So, we were audited. I'm wondering if our bankruptcy could play any part in this. For instance, we filed 5/31/05 and were discharged 9/23/05. Do we still have to pay those taxes? (Now that question there, seems dumb, and you're probably thinking, HELLO?! YES! you have to pay your taxes...) But could someone just tell me straight up please?

Unfortunately, you still owe your taxes. There are provisions to discharge taxes, but they include having filed them on time and being more than 3 years old.

I think the 3 years to file is if you are owed taxes, not sure...
