New Checking account PLEASE HELP

Stupid me, went to apply for a new savings at my current bank, and they pulled my credit saw that I was in bankruptcy and they then closed my current checking account, and wouldn't open my new savings anyways. My question is does anyone have any idea of any banks that will allow people accounts when they have filled BK? or are on chexsystem? I have heard of a credit unuion called PLATCO or something like that where people have been able to get an account, but that has not worked for me they turned me down because of BK.
anybody have any ideas that would be helpful? I don't care where the bank is. I live in ohio, but I will bank with someone across the USA I don't care. People have also told me USBANK works with people, but they are the reason I am on chexsystems. Anyhelp would be great. Kind of hard to live life without an account.

Did you mean Patelco? I don't know if they use Chexsystems (I don't think I'm in that) but they did approve me in BK. I applied in Oct., 6 weeks or so after filing and 2 months before discharge.

ya thats who I meant, Patelco. They do approve for BK, but not chexsystems. They said they don't even check your credit. Thanks though They only use chexsystems. Anyother ideas?

I applied with Wachovia and was approved, I am in chex systems.

You can try Meadows CU. I understand that all you need is an email account to be 'eligible'. Don't know their criteria.

I do know that Patelco pulled my EX, but maybe that was for the checking. (When you first apply, you apply for membership & a savings account and then the checking.)

Staci I applied at medows CU, thanks a lot. have to wait and see if they accept. I almost went with Wachovia, but I have heard bad things about them. If anyone else has any banks they know will approve people on chexsystems, and BK let me know. I could use some backups incase Medows doesn't go through. Thanks again staci, and newstart

I'm in Illinois. We used Amcore bank. When I was withdrawing the money for my filing fee, I asked them if they will close my account due to my bankruptcy. They said no why would we? They said the only reason they would close the account is if I added my bank to the list of creditors, (IE: late fees, bounced checks...etc) Since I have never had any issues with that on my account they said I have no problem.

I know that if you are on Chexsystem, then you will most likely have issues.

Maybe try TCF bank, they can be lenient, and from what I heard US Bank can over look Checksystems, if you go in and talk to them.

I applied online, after I filled BK, and have listings in checksystems. I have been turned down by several banks, but Wachovia did approve me. I got free checking w/ a debit card. The only 'problem' I had was they charged me $20 for checks I never ordered (they send them automatically), but I emailed them and demanded they return the money, they did and even apologized. I have also heard others who have had problems with them, but I was able to get free checking, no minimum balance ($100 min. deposit to open acct.), fee online banking w/bill pay, and most important a debit card. Hope this helps.

ok, I tried Wachovia, and they denied me. They have a new rule they will not accept anyone on chexsystems this just started Jan 1 2006. They said all people who have already been approved for a checking are safe, but they are not accepting new applicants that apply who are on chex system

I have heard that credit unuions have shared branching. There are 5 credit unuion banks around me all owned by same company and they said that there are several credit unuions around the world that accept people with BK on credit report, and chexsystem, however; they dont. They did however tell me if I got approved at one of those credit unuions that I could come in and bank at my local office because of the shared branching that most all credit unuions do. So my new question is does anyone know of any credit unuion that will help people on chexsystems and BK on there credit get a bank account? any help would be great.

I am in michigan and have applied to 2 credit unions and am awaiting an approval. I don't know what their approval process consists of but the names are credit union one and US Federal credit union. If I get an approval I will let you know.
