I learned awhile ago that trustees get paid on a per case basis and also get a commission off the money they collect. This seems extremely unfair and makes them more likely to ruin people's lives, as they try and make money. Why don't they earn a salary like everyone else? I think their jobs being commission-based makes them more prone to being greedy and grabbing all the assets they can. It makes me upset because I think it leads some to be more aggressive in grabbing assets for their own gain and not for the creditors, like it should be. Anyone know what the laws are on this and how much trustees really make?

FYI-
The trustee is there to represent the creditors, not the person who files BK. That is one reason it is good to have a skilled attorney on your side. Most of my information is from personal experience or HOURS and HOURS of online research. When you're searching online, keep in mind there is no guarantee that the info is completely up to date, and your situation is unique from anyone else's. Do your homework, and consult with an attorney so you can make an informed decision.
