    Capital One Gave Me Credit

Five months after discharge and in addition to Orchard and Household Bank credit cards, Capital One extended credit to me. Why are they being so accomodating. Is it that I am a better risk now that I can't go chapter 7 again?

Did you include Capital one in your bk, I had 2 cap one accounts in bk so doubt that I will get any offers from them.

mark, ive posted several articles on how the creditors need their customers back badly. yes the article confirmed what i guessed beforehand that bk filers are a better risk since they cant file bk for 8 years now instead of 6.

the longer you wait the better the cards will get. be selective since you already have some cards and are building your credit.

bkf are you saying that even if you bk'd on a creditor that they might still offer you a cc at some point?

sure. and even more so now with the need they have.

prime lenders are less likely so i wouldnt count on it. and some just have a policy to not do it. but it doesnt matter. we aint gonna use credit like that anymore so we could care less actually right?

we just wanna build credit and go on with our lives is all. maybe buy a house in the future.

True, I am not applying for any credit anytime soon, I just wondered if I was out of luck for the next 7 to 10 years on the folks I bk'd.

no no no no way. after 3 years, 5 max, they will all be back depending on your credit score.

you dont understand just how much they make off of you. 10 to 20% extra off of everything you buy per year? you are like a little piggy bank for them.

Ewww... that word piggy brought back traumatic images for me. (toes, piggy's)

However, I don't want to be those scumbags piggy banks. I see what you mean though. For now it will be house and student loan payments getting my credit score up.

I was amazed that I got a capital one offer and got it approved in the mail today with a cl of 3000.00. I only applied for it on Monday was just discharged on 1-13-06. I only plan on using it for gas and paying it off every month but am happy to have it.

read the fine print in your agreement. Several CC's are now writing in their contracts that by accepting the new card, if you have any old debts with them, even ones included in bankruptcy, you are responsible for that old debt with the acceptance and use of the new card.
