    Wildcard and cash

    On the wildcard exemption can you use it towards cash or does it have to be a physical property to exempt ?

    not sure if state are the same but yes it can be used for cash in most states.

      Please explain what a "wildcard" exemption is and what states can claim it and for what?

        wildcard exemption is where you can use a certain amount to exempt anything you want up to that amount.

        find the exemptions for your state and see if it exists. that is all you can use.

          Each state has exemptions. Some allow 'wild card' exemptions that you can use to protect property not covered by other exemptions. Some also allow a portion of unused homestead exemption to be used as a 'wild card'. It varies by state, some have restrictions on the WC, some do not.
          Most of my information is from personal experience or HOURS and HOURS of online research. When you're searching online, keep in mind there is no guarantee that the info is completely up to date, and your situation is unique from anyone else's. Do your homework, and consult with an attorney so you can make an informed decision.
