Does he want your tax "return" or tax "refund". People confuse these 2. I believe the "tax return" is just the forms you file, IE 1040. The actual refund sounds like it's too small to matter.

I do believe it was the "Refund" letter...I was actually having a few cocktails on Saturday when it arrived...I'll have to check again.

I filed jointly with my x-husband up 2000 and wasn't "working" per se...and didn't return to the working world until November of 2004...

I received alimony on which I didn't pay income tax on as I had a little problem with a certain substance...hence bk...

...So maybe the trustee just didn't know what to expect? I'm trying to remember if he even took my tax return from last year...probably...

Yeah, I think it's a pretty small amount myself....

Was your case an 'asset' case or not closed yet?

I remember my trustee asking about last years return but not asking for our tax return. We never signed anything either. Our case has been closed for quite some time (over a month) and most cases in our area that were getting their taxes taken were listed as 'asset' and then taken.

Any 'no asset' people get this letter after closing?

I've never heard of anyone getting one except for 'asset' cases.

Read your letter then let us know.
Even so, $450 is a small price to pay in the long run.............
I'll be watching, you may never know when or how, but I'll be there. I am there now....

if the case is closed then he cant take it unless he opens it back up.

foolandhistaxterms, you are bad. lol. "maybe he wants the paperwork" ROFLMFAO! hahahaha! that is too funny. love it!

ok what i would do is sent the paperwork in, and then go spend then money on rent, clothes, groceries.

save receipts. just in case he does want the money. lol

You are totally right on that issue...it is a small price considering my debt.

Yes, it is the refund letter

I'd guess that it was discharged but not closed. If there were tax returns involved, the case can be discharged but they won't close it until they get the return.

You'll get a letter after discharge and after closing.

I received my letter of discharge already.
On pacer, it reads "asset" due to the car.
I haven't received anything to file my tax return with, yet. I'll have one thing from Kelly Services, who got me my job & one thing from where I currently work.....

I'm just guessing the refund to be around $450...Now, if they want $450, I'm pretty sure they'll want my SUV too!
