Is there anyone here that is from NY and has filed under the old or the new laws? Any pro-se's from NY. I am reading posts from others around the country and I would like to know of any New Yorkers with any bk exp.

How has it been with your BK even though it was under the old laws. How was the trustee? Were you able to cover your property under the exemptions? Any sites that you researched which was geared to NY? I'm in the city not too far from Orange County. I drive up to the lakes there in the summers.

Our BK has been uneventful (just the way we'd hope it'd be). Our trustee was very nice, he and our lawyer know each other so I'm sure that didn't hurt. We were total no asset, only thing we had was our car which was repoed before we filed. I did find one site geared towards NY, though it's not as lively as it is here.

I was just in the city last night, took DW to the Billy Joel concert at the Garden. That was our big expense for the next 6 months or so I'm afraid, but it was worth it.

lol that lawyers.crap site is just crapola. they have 1 good poster and that is almost it.

most everyone that psots there is useless. no one even posts their own experience based on their case. and hte attorneys dont say much at all. if you get lucky they might give you a tod bit.

then you have all the rest that are there to post against you. like collection asswipes, creditors, and landlors, etc. its a total joke.

i wouldnt waste my time at that site. if you need tax information then its great. after that forget about it.

I'd have to disagree. The NY section has a few lawyers that do respond, and there isn't any more abuse there then there was here in the days of lighting. Like everything in this world you have to take it for what its worth. Free help is free help what more is there to say.
