Well, I filed for Chapter 7 today. After cpw111, it sounds as though I'm the #2 guinea pig under the new law 'round these parts. Despite my worries, my attorney assured me that it should go through without any problems, as I am a no asset case with very reasonable expenses.
The one unexpected thing was that my schedule I income ended up being significantly higher than my means test income, and actually put me over the state median. I misunderstood and thought that my 6 month average from the means test was the income that would be included on the schedule I, but it turns out that I still have to list my current monthly gross, which is somewhat higher than the 6 month average. I guess the saving grace is that it's only the means test for which the median income matters. On the actual petition, it's all about the schedule I vs. schedule J. On those, I was a little disappointed to see that my resulting income actually put me $35 in the black, but that's still BK7 territory as long as none of my expenses are disputed.
I don't feel like I know any more about all this than I did yesterday, but I'll certainly share my experiences as things progress toward my 341, hopefully in late Feb/early March!
