Question about Closing of Chapter 7

I'm getting nervous or impatient about the closing of my filing. Was discharged on 1/17/2006...........that notification was mailed to me, on the 19th the discharge letter went out to all of the creditors on my list. My question is it's almost been one week..............should this be closed by now ? Is it "ok" to call the clerk to see when the closing wil be ?

why are you worried about the close? because of all the people here letting it sound like it matters?

well let me put that one to rest. it does technically but not really. well it was a good try anyways.

if you got the discharge then you are done honestly. wht a discharge means is that:

A - the trustee is done taking things.
B - the creditors cant take anything more.
C - everybody has had their time to say something and nobody did.
    D - its over. congrats!

the closing of a case is a technical things mostly. unless you know the trsutee is keeping it open for something. if you are not sure then call him. but the court needs time to work the computer and close the case. after that it gets stored in an underground bunker and forgotten. there is more on their side to closing a case then just entering a click in the computer. files transferred, documents collected, etc.

its a 'their' thing usually, not a 'your' thing.
Im not an attorney or a trustee. You cant trust me either though!

      Congrads on the discharge!!!

Your closing should soon follow UNLESS:

      1. The Trustee told you to send income tax papers to him.
      2. You have an asset that the Trustee is going to sell, and
      you would KNOW.....

      Otherwise, your good to go!!!!

My suggestions are from "personal experience" and research only. Do not consider this as legal advice. Each bankruptcy case is different.
