My electric company just sent me a letter saying I need to send them a deposit, and they changed my account number! $64.00 I have to send them by 04/12 of they will shut me off! I'm starting to get mad again! I will not have $64.00! That is way too soon! I guess I'll be in the dark till I can aford it.

I know the feeling, Nascar. We haven't even gotten to the attny's and filing fees yet. We've been dealing with paying taxes from last year.
Finally got the taxes squared away this week. All bills for the month, except one, are paid. Rent is due on Friday. We had the rent money and $100 left over. I was checking to see if everyone had gas in the tanks. Looking in the freezer and pantry to see if we could eat for a week with just having to buy bread and milk.
This is so not fun.Filed Ch 7 - 09/06

BK Fees are rising
Hi Everyone:
I live in NY, so it was to my amazement when I looked on the Bk website for my particular region to find out that to file a Ch 7 it is going from $274 to $299. Wow, why raise it an extra $25? This will take place effective 4/9/06. I wanted to file later next month too. Didn't they just raise the fees? Anyone filing a Ch 13 will now have to pay $274. I guess this is just another tactic to discourage poor folks from filing. Sure you can probably pay in installments and probably have the fee waived if you are below the poverty line, but then you have to go before the judge to be granted permission. During such a stressful time, who has the extra time or money to take a day off of work to go before the judge? That's why so many people go ahead and scrape up or borrow the money to file.
That's what I will do. Let me do my pre-filing counseling and debt educator courses in before they raise the fees on this too.

Nobody said filing bankruptcy was going to be "easy"...... Everything has it's pitfalls and so does bankruptcy.
Sometimes it seems like they have you in their "clinch" and won't turn you loose, but after its all over and done wih - its such a sigh of RELIEF....... But you have to go with the flow.... borrow from a friend if you have too .... but tough it out till its all over.....
Then get back to rebuilding your life all over again.... hopefully with a clean slate this time.....
Bankruptcy can bring the strongest too their knees, including me...... but ya gotta get back up, shake yourself off and get on with living afterwards. The old saying "no paid, no gain" - there's a lot of truth in it!!!
Hang in there..............

My suggestions are from "personal experience" and research only. Do not consider this as legal advice. Each bankruptcy case is different.

OK, I'm not thrilled either. We went ahead and got our Cert because we're fairly certain we're gonna file within the next month. Sooner better than later.
At the point we paid the $50 for the Cert, all we had left was our rent, which has to be paid, and $100 to live on for a week.
But I think of it this way. If you have a medical problem. Gallbladder, we'll say. The doctor is gonna send you for testing to confirm the problem before they do surgery.
And medical testing and surgery are heck of lot more expensive than filing BK.
Soooooooo, just look at it like pre-op testing. You gotta have this done to remove the tumor of debt you've been carrying around.
Post BK Education will be like follow-up exams to be sure all the tumor of debt was removed.
Might as well put some spin on it, do it, and move on. To fret over it, and piss and moan about it, only drives up your blood pressure and puts your panties in a bunch. Certainly don't bother the people that made the rules at all.
Protect your own health. Look at it all in some good light. What ever works for you. There may be bigger potholes in the road of BK for any one of us than the cost of Pre and Post BK Certs.Filed Ch 7 - 09/06
