    just a question

would it be on to close my bank account before filing chapter 7?

You don't need to close it. Just make sure there's nothing in it when you file. You're going to need a bank account after you file. So, why bother having to open a new one.

Closing it will throw up a red flag to the Court. You have to declare all bank accts closed within 1 year of filing.

So, like Rover said, leave it open, but make sure there ain't much in it on the day you file.

If you have to open a new bank acct due to having a loan your BK'ing on with your current bank, go the day after you file BK, before the notice has had a chance to hit your Credit, and open a new acct. Scope out banks prior to filing to know where you want to go.
