Should be able to keep our house...

...even if assessed valuation comes in on high side --- and I'm filing a Ch7. Will be able then to sell house myself and use the equity for a fresh start elsewhere next year. My lawyer and I met again today, and after a review of everything I gave him, he complimented me on my organization. I told him about this site with all your "mini-case histories" (and links to good info). I used Pacer to review cases filed this past year by several attorneys who had been mentioned to me, and found he has handled business, Chap 7 and 13 filings under new law. And no hitches so far on any of them. Gives me confidence that I have made the right pick. Will run $1100 plus $299 filing fee and costs for required online sessions. I knew I needed hand holding in court on some business asset issues, so never considered filing by myself, but this site has been great to get into a comfort zone with BK in general. The filing should be in late summer; I need some time to pull together the rest of the monies to file. In the meantime, I have picked two of his recently filed cases to follow on Pacer; their 341 hearings are tomorrow. Maybe I can get some sense of how fast things appear online from our local court. Just have to keep in mind to check # of pages I look at; I HAVE been paying attention to what you all posted on that thread!

You go!!! Keep an eye on his cases and how they go......
Sounds like you got a game plan and everything under control......

Have your consultation with your attorney and keep us posted on what his/her plans are for you.....

Need to vent - just give us a shout....

At first when I read your post, I thought you'd told the attny you'd checked him out on PACER.

I was surprised he took you as a client! The couple of attnys I mentioned PACER to were shocked regular folk could get on there. They acted like we had the plague and we never heard from them again.

Then I reread it and realized you'd checked him out, but didn't tell him that you had!
      Filed Ch 7 - 09/06
      Discharged - 12/2006
Officially Declared No Asset - 03/2007
      Closed - 04/2007

I am not an attorney. My comments are based on personal experience and research. Always consult an attorney in your area to address concerns related to your particular situation.
