    Hi all you great people,

Good for you. You might want to plan to have some extra cash handy on the day of your 341, so when its over you can go out and celebrate!

Other tips I can offer about the 341 have little to do with bk itself.

Go early so you have plenty of time to park.

Leave your cell phone in your car, you can't bring it in the courthouse.

Be calm, and listen to other cases while you're waiting for yours. Its reassuring to know they aren't hanging people or burning them at the stake

Till the 341 meeting, stay cool, calm and collected...........
Tell any creditors your case # and attorney # when they call........

        Day of the 341 meeting:

        1. Go early and listen to other cases.
        2. Dress casual - no diamonds/gold please - don't want them thinking you got a lot in diamonds.....
        3. Don't offer free information - just yes and no and short brief answer.

Be patient, don't worry too much, and try to take things in stride..... a new beginning is just around the corner...

Just curious here, but what about wedding bands. That's really all we have. They're noted in our BK paperwork. And I wear a pair of Stainless Steele little ball studs. Just to keep my piercing holes open. I'm starting to worry about wearing even them.

Your wedding bands should be fine. I wore my wedding rings (engagement ring/band) and no one even glanced at it.

              thanks all--keep you posted.
one thing that made me feel good was the bankruptcy clerk called my case "no-asset" case and my paperwork was in really good order except the petition paper had been updated ad had me fill a new one out other than that it went really smooth.

When I said "jewelry" I was talking about a hand full of diamonds worth about $5,000-$10,000........ now that's something the Trustee would really look at......
Simple wedding bands and soliatary diamonds are okay as long as they are not 5 carat rings.............

                    Minny

I pity a Trustee that would confiscate a womans wedding rings...............
how low can you stoop, huh!!!

                      No "bling"

My attorney said I could wear pearl stud earrings and matching single pearl drop necklace like I was wearing in his office at our meeting, but if I had any big, gold chains, or diamond trimmed watches leave them at home! Told me a funny story about watching the trustee eyeing the people sitting in the 341 hearing room and making notes...and overhearing comments made about several men with heavy gold chains around neck and expensive looking watches on a couple ladies! Soooo, don't dress to impress the other debtors!!!!!!

I guess my $5 watch from Walmart won't draw any suspicious looks. ;)

                          Oh, and "shades"...

He said my prescription sunglasses would pass as an exempt medical device, but $$$$$Designer shades would get the trustee looking closer at asset lists. This is a summer cautionary tale on his part; he says for winter hearings he reminds people to leave the REAL fur and fur trimmed coats in the closet unless it shows up listed separately on assets to be exempted.....And don't even wear it into building and hand it or jewels off to friend to hold during hearing --- video security camera tapes can be checked easily if trustee thinks assets are hidden. I made a joke about "leaving my Porsche" at home that day too so parking lot cameras don't see me climbing out, and he said my 10 year old van will not raise eyebrows...but "word has a way of getting from parking lot security patrols to the court officials" about people being dropped off in limos or exiting very expensive rides!

I would hope so! Those are the 4-5% of the people the new BK laws were supposed to catch.
