How long usually til the case is discharged and closed ?

Discharge should show within a couple weeks. Closing can take up to a year. If you don't recieve your discharge within a couple weeks, call the courthouse and speak with your case manager.

it can take a while.. I am living proof.. deadline for objections was 5/5/6 and still awaiting discharge.. Slow on my end but has been very quick for other here..

If there are no assets to distribute, the closing usually takes place soon after the discharge, otherwise it can take a while to give out the money.

My deadline for objections was on April 17th in my no asset case and I'm still not discharged. However, I did find out the reason. The woman who took in my final installment of the filing fee recorded it improperly so it looked like I still owed the court $174. Got that straightened out and the clerk I spoke with said this was the only thing holding up my discharge and that I should see it soon. My question is how long will it take to show up on PACER?

You should be seeing that discharge on Pacer any time..................

The Trustee can keep you case open up to one year if he so desires..... especially if he's looking for something....

Most don't though...... but they do have the option of closing your case and being able to petition the court for 1 year to re-open your case if they want too.... but they also have to have a good reason (like finding an asset)....

Our lastday for objections was on May 30, When I checked pacer the next day or two it showed that it was discharged. Less than a week later it was closed.
