Business saved for now - no more sheriff?

    Hi,
Cat whisperer here. Well, for those of you following my saga, we negotiated with the company that had a judgment against us for a business debt and the sheriff showed up the other day to take an inventory. We've arranged payment terms and the lawyer is going to notify the sheriff to terminate the writ to take our personal and business stuff. Next step is filing the personal BK 7, got the NOLO book downloaded, ready to go. Will file by Monday, July 24, that will stop all further judgments, including the one we have a court case with on July 31. Looks like I got the business secured, for now, GOT A PART TIME JOB!!! to help pay off the business debts, and hopefully the personal Chapter 7 will take care of things. I know our S Corp will throw monkey wrenches into it but I'm prepared to produce good documents. We will contact a CPA to do an independent audit to make sure it looks ok.

Thanks for your help all - I'm sure I'll be asking questions about these stupid forms I have to fill out but the end of the tunnel is looking brighter.

    KEEP COOL!!!

The Nolo book is great--I bought it before they had a download available. (Argh! -- would have liked having that on my PC to look things up quickly.)

I'm can't remember from your other posts; but make sure you get some free consults if you haven't to take care of lingering questions.

I'd be so scared to go through this without an attorney if I had assets I could lose.

My posts represent hours of research on and off the web, these forums, my experience, and my opinions.

Thanks, maybe that is why I'm feeling brave - we have a 1993 old car, we rent, the business isn't worth squat, and if they want my stuff, they would do me a favor so I could clean out and start fresh. Only thing worth anything, and that still isn't THAT much is my engagement and wedding ring but they'd have to cut it off me - summer makes my fingers swell and this stress!

You probably know this already; but make sure you complete your required counseling before you file otherwise your case will be dismissed

        Take care,

Thanks - it's done! Now if you can all help me deal with my husband who has been in denial for 9 years, I've got it made.
