    Prebankruptcy Class What a Joke

I just finished the Pre BK class this afternoon and and the last part of the one on one with a counseler I belive was to last half an hour. I went it the dude looked over the five sheets of paper I had through two in the waste basket, kept the other three and printed out my certificates. I was out of there in 6 minutes. However long the first session was to last i cant remember but I was in the group session about thirtty minutes. then they say I have one more class that cost 50 bucks before I go to court.
I think its just a money racket. anyone else have the same experience?
    Thanks,

    Chris

We never even actually talked to anyone for ours. All done online. There was no actual counseling done for the pre BK Cert. We had already done a couseling session for a professional analysis of our financial situation. They already knew we were in trouble so why bother.

From reports on here, pre BK Cert counseling must be getting less and less. When this all started with the New Law, the Counseling Agencies did try. Then more and more people started streaming in. The Counseling Agencies aren't set up to handle the work load. Now, you give them $50 and they give you a "stamp of approval".
      Filed Ch 7 - 09/06
      Discharged - 12/2006
Officially Declared No Asset - 03/2007
      Closed - 04/2007

I am not an attorney. My comments are based on personal experience and research. Always consult an attorney in your area to address concerns related to your particular situation.

Whoa!!!! What are all these classes everyone is talking about???? I went into the credit counseling place with all my bills and they looked at me and said "so how do you feel about bankruptcy, because there's no way you are going to pay all this off"? Followed by, "When you find an attorney, go ahead and let us know and we'll fax him over the certificate". I had zero classes.

ETA: They also didn't charge me for it because the lady said I was so far in the hole with my medical bills....there was no point in her charging me.

Before you can actually file you need to take a pre-bk calls, and before you can be discharged you must take a post bk-class. If you are filing with a lawyer, he/ she should have a list of companies that offer the classes.

We went with CCCS of Atlanta. We had them run a professional financial opinion for us first. They told us they couldn't help us. So when we needed the pre-BK Certs, we just went back to them. Because they already had all our info.

The fee wasn't $50 each. It was $50 for both of us. I think they charged individuals a bit more/person for the Cert and we got a "package" deal for filing joint.

The 2nd class needs to be completed within 60 days of the completion of your 341 meeting. The questions mainly deal with how to handle credit. Ans the tests are scored (80%) is required to pass each section.
