Checking account

Well I don't have a checking account and its making it hard to pay some of my bills. Does anyone know of a bank that is ok with Chap. 7 ? I need one that acutally has checks.TIA!

All you hear about it being hard to get a checking account just isn't true, I opened one after discharge and noone asked a single question, didn't volunteer info either, it may hard if you try to get a bank CC, but other than that I don't think you'll have a problem. Avoid a bank you filed on of course.

US Bank does not do credit checks. My cousin just got me a bank account there.

Try Credit Unions! Not only for your basic checking & savings, but they are much better for loans & lines of credit!

The banks are more concerned about the CHEX system and writing bad checks than your credit report.

Yeah they did check the chex systems. I have never bounced any checks....miraculously enough.

If you have written a bad check and our already in the Chex System and you then file Bk, will that automatically come off of Chex System as well, or will that be there forever until you pay?

I believe it comes off.....I don't know if they delete it but they do put the balance to zero.

The other thing about US bank I found out is that they offer a secured Visa.....my cousin called to tell me last night tha tI should apply for it once this is discharged.

how do you get in the chex system?i have bounced some checks in the past but have always made up the money.could i be in the system?
