    How my credit score plunged

In May 06 I was 750. I filed Ch 7 in July. I stopped making payments in April or May.
I just pulled my scores b/c I want to see what I'm starting this bk with. I was not prepared for what I saw. my scores are between 518 and 543. I'm trying to follow the Dave Ramsey mind set of a person doesn't need credit. And I don't want credit cards ever again. Although I suppose at some point I may need one to make reservations or something, but that is a long way off because I have to get my finances in order. Can't go traveling!
Anyway, I think I forgot to breathe for a few minutes. And I'm sure they're going to go down a few more notches before this is all over.
Some of the balances are zero already. Some still have the same balance, but some say charged off as bad debt. Looks like when this is all over in two months I have a lot of clean up to do. Including getting Balley's off of there. They have me paying $27 a month, when I haven't had a balance in almost 10 years. I addressed this with them in 99 or 2000 and they sd they would remove it. They didn't, and I knew they didn't, but I thought it would eventually fall of the report. But it's still there. Jerks.

First of all welcome to the boards, there are alot of smart people that are always willing to help. There is also one dumbr person [me] willing to help also... Anyways, Here's the thing, in my experience credit scores are like pets. If you don't feed them they die, if you feed them too much they die! As far as the "Dave Ramsey mind set" that is true, but the best way to get those scores back up is to clean up those reports before you do anything else, even before you file. Dispute incorrect items and make sure all the items on you report should be there. I have had huge improvement in my scores by disputing early and keeping up the pressure on the CRA's! Now that i'm discharged, I have a few small pesky item that will take a little bit of time to get corrected, but I'll got down fighting ! Keep us updated on how you are doing! If I can help, PM me or post it and I'm sure someone here will have the answer...
    My credit scores:
Before Filing: Tr 496, Ex 496, Eq 507

    Today: Tr 618 (+122), Ex 601 (+105), Eq 623 (+116)

Thanks for the welcome. I will keep everyone posted. It's been so helpful to read everything on this site.
I am current on my mortgage, car, student loan and utilities. my mortgage and car have a note in there of late 90 days??!?! Is this standard until I reaffirm? I have never been late on any payment until this year when I couldn't do it anymore, but I've never been late with those accounts.

Fall offs are not automatic, you will have to write the credit agency, maybe all three and tell them its past 7 year limitations, they should remove it.

Thanks for the responses about clearing up that one account on my credit reports. I will follow through this time and get them off the list. They were soooooo difficult to deal with last time; wrong numbers, disconnected numbers, lost mail, lost faxes, and the standard "yes we will take care of it" responses when I actually spoke to someone. What I love the most is at that time their contact number was not a toll free number, and their hold time was like 20 minutes.
