We feel your pain Ineedhelp2. Unfortunately, the BK courts and Trustee could care less about your business or your ill spouse or anything else. They have a system and they stick to it. Foolandhismoney said it right in an above post - the day you file they take a snapshot of your finances and that is what they use to determine the Chapter 13 details.
I was caught in a similiar situation. We filed Dec 20, 2004 and we found out exactly 4 weeks later than my wife was pregnant. Another mouth to feed, more money in daycare, etc. We got our lawyer to amend the plan a little, but it was only a small amount. They took a snapshot of us on Dec 20, 2004 and it really didn't matter what happened after that.
