I just want to tell everyone that I have been viewing this forum for about 6 months. April 17, 2006 i finally filed my papers for chapter 7, pro se. I was just discharged and had my case closed. It isn't easy, I faced a motion to dismiss from the U.S. trustee but beat her off with a stick. It was't easy but there is a chance for people who can not afford a lawyer.

Originally posted by miss puffSo happy for you henkesj. Would you mind sharing part of your success story for some of us pro-se filers who are in the process right now? Thanks so much.
My success story is not that elaborate. For the better part of a year I found myself unable to pay my bills consistantly. I was seriously over-extended. I then had to have a major surgury to repair a serious injury I sustained. I found myself out of work for a few months and bam I was broke. I tried a debt managment service but after one month I realised I was not going to make it with that service. I searched the boards around here for a few weeks and decided to file myself. I used an online site called verrantbk.com to fill out my forms. My only snag was I got my debtor conseling the day after I filed. This brought a motion to dismiss, but the Judge was leniant and she threw out the motion saying I followed the meaning of the law. I am going to start to rebuild my credit. My current scores are rather low, average 530, but its only up from here.

Isn't that amazing?? Wasn't there another poster on here who did the same thing (took the credit course AFTER filing) and the judge dismissed the case?????Originally posted by henkesjMy only snag was I got my debtor conseling the day after I filed. You would think all these judges would get on the same page. It stinks that it mostly depends on where you file and leniency of your judge.Date Filed: 12/19/2004
341 Meeting: 2/8/2005
Date Case Confirmed: 7/12/2005
Closed on Refinance/Chapter 13 Buyout 8/23/06
