This posting was originally posted by vaultman....... see his questions regarding this issue in the 2nd posting on this thread.
Vaultman posted the question in 2 sections of the forum and when I deleted one of them and merged the answers, my answer came up before his question. (in other words I deleted the wrong posting)...
His questions are still here and this was the 1st answer to his inquirey....
Sorry folks, I make mistakes too...... still trying to correct it....
I don't know much about this issue, but there's a couple of things I would check into....
Check with the local tag and title office, talk to the main guy in charge, explain the situation that the vehicle was in bankruptcy, you surrendered it, now the lein holder is abandoning it but will not produce the title.
Also, give the Trustee a call and let him know the situation too.
You will need a letter from the lien holder saying that they are abandoning the auto, will not be accepting it in surrender in bankruptcy, and thus making the lien void and null. Verbal heresay will not be acceptable..... it must be in writing.
Its possible that you can get a title for abandonment, possibly a salvaged title in the place of the original.
Did you use an attorney in filing, or file pro se?
