    Anyone deal with American General?

Just wondering if anyone's had any encounters with American General? How long do they hound you and how come they never sell your debt? Insiders, please tell all.

Yep, I had a $1200 debt from AG go to small claims. They received a judgment and tomorrow the judgment will be paid in full. THey sued me in small claims after approximately 150 days. I tried to call them on several occasions and get a reduced payment/interest plan, but they were not interested. Eventually, I encouraged them to sue me in small claims and get a judgment, which they did. I called them after the judgment and they still wanted the same repayment terms. I said no way, you should garnish my wages, which they did. Tomorrow (payday) this debt is history. I do not intend to encourage them to file a satisfaction of judgmetn record with my local courts. As I now have 3 judgments, 6-8 chargeoffs, and 2 - 4 collections reporting on my CR's, I hope this will signify to others that if they want to collect a debt from me they will need to get in line.

November 1 will mark my one-year anniversary of deciding to not file a BK 13 and let the cards fall where they may. I have paid off 4 of my 16 creditors through judicial means or garnishment. While I have yet to be sued for any large accounts (beyond small claims,) I feel good about paying off 4 of 16 creditors. My creidt reports look like a giant train wreck, LOL. Any CA pulling them will see that there is definitely a problem, Houston!

Since I don't intend to use "mainstream credit" ever again, I don't care if the CA and judgment records stay on my credit reports until I die. I can almost guarantee that if five years from now i walk into a bank with $100K cash and a solid monthly takehome pay (regardless of chargeoffs and collections on my credit report), someone will offer reasonable terms against a mortgage or auto.

      Sorry for the sidenotes.

If yoru account with AG is local and your small claims laws are easy to get through, I believe AG will come for you. They have no reasom to sell or assigne your debt to a CA. They seem to be a pretty smart financial company, and I would guess they recover an above average amount of defaulted debt except for those who file BK. They seem to take their time, but as you mentioned, don't expect them to send your account to a CA.

They were jerks. I had to deal with them a couple years ago. This was way before any of financial issues.. I busted my butt to get them paid off and out of my hair. Do what you can to satisfy or get rid of this debt.
