Got a coll. call for my maiden name?

I got a call from a lawyer's office..Mann Bracken asking for me, but using my maiden name which I haven't used at all for almost 15 yrs. So no credit has been under that name since I got married in 1994. What the heck? Is that a tactic to get me to call? One of my creditors I have had since I was 18 and they would be the only one with that name, but it was changed when I got married.

I'm my wife's 4th husband. Every so often we get calls from collection sgencies asking for her with her maiden name. her first marriage's last name, 2nd. and 3rd. Every time we just ask "Who"?

I got a call yesterday. They were using my first name and my wife's previous married last name. They were just fishing and updating their database.

Now what is even more stupid in December they sent me a collection letter with the right name. Its for the same creditor for the same amount but has a different account number on it. Ya wonder why these places never get things right.

LOLOLOL, I just finished reading the whole letter, they give me the option to pay my gas card debt off by credit card but there is a $5.00 fee for every $150.00 paid by credit card... you would think they would just be happy to get any money from someone and not have to whack them a whopping $5 per $150.00 fee to pay by another credit card. That is an outrages fee.
They don't get it right for a reason - they want you to contact them and say you are getting things that are incorrect so they can get you on the phone. Old trick I was advised of years ago.

This might be in violation of the Merhant's Agreement. If they claim they are giving you a 3% cash disount, or something like that, that is okay. But if they automatically charge you 3%, that probably is a violation. Merhant Agreements aren't worth the paper they are printed on because they are not enfored.
