    Sentinel Real Estate -

I filed in 12/08 and was discharged from CH7 4/09. I pulled my credit at a Mazda dealer over the weekend and went back today to take a look at it because they said my score was a 590 when it had been a 660 about a month ago.

The only thing that has changed on my bureau is a collection account from Sentinel Real Estate. There is no amount, no amount due, and on the far right side it said "In Bankrupt".

I have never had a collection account on my credit report. All of my accounts were up to date up until my filing date.

I had an apartment back in early 2000s but I stayed until the lease was up and have not had any problems otherwise. I actually leased a place in Austin in June with no issues. In otherwords this has taken me by complete suprise.

Does anyone know how I can figure something out about this issue? Is this affecting my score even though I filed? Can they add a collection AFTER I filed?

You can get rid of the collection. Send a notification to the CA to remove the collection from your credit report. It can NOT be reported after you have filed if it is from something before your filing date, it is a violation of the discharge injunction. There is case law where this is considered 'continued collection activity' simply by putting it on your CR.

This is the credit clean up that is necessary after discharge.
    Filed CH 7 9/30/2008
    Discharged Jan 5, 2009! Closed Jan 18, 2009

I am not an attorney. None of my advice is legal advice in any way..

Thank you for replying...can you help me understand what CA means? DUH, nevermind Collection Agency.

So I'm on the phone with them now and they say its from 10/04 and it was from an apartment that I lived in with a friend back then. The balance was $212.55 and was PAID yesterday by the other tenant. WTF.

They say that they will not delete it and the girl just hung up on me after putting me on hold. These collectors are so damn rude. Someone needs to shoot em and put them out of their misery.

Besides that I signed a transfer of responsibility on the lease after a couple of months and moved out. What a crock man.

My lawyer as well as the collection company are stating that since it was not included in the BK paperwork that it can not be removed.

If a collection shows as paid does it adversly affect your score?

        This pisses me off.
