How do you know which collection company is holding your debt account?

What is the best way to find out? I want to start paying off my debts; I'm not sure if all the calls I have been getting are legitimate.

Should I use my credit report as a guide? Does it show the collection company address and phone number?

If you have old debt you stopped paying on a long time ago, some of your original creditors and collection agencies that bought the debt may not show up on your credit report.

However, your credit report does show the addresses and phone numbers of the creditors that are listed.

Be sure to include every one of the creditors who owned the debt, not just the last one, when you file.

Are you able to pay them off in full or are you going to make payments or settle?

You do realize this will reset the SOL on all your debt by contacting them and making arrangements to pay on it?

Your CR list the name of the reporting company along with a phone number.

You don't have an idea of who you owed and how much?
I would like to pay it off, it;s better than filing, isn't it?
Going to make payments on most; some I may settle, depending if that is a good choice.
What is an SOL and how will resetting it affect my credit?
