    "Intent to Sue" letter

    Hi everyone,

I quit paying on my credit cards just over a year ago. About once a week, a law office of some sort will send me a letter saying I should pay them or they may take legal action.

Today I received a letter with the title "Intent to Sue," or maybe it is "intention to sue." Either way, is this just another scare tactic or possibly more serious?

The OC is Target National Bank and I owed them just over $9,000 but now it's at $11,000.

I do not keep any money in my bank account and all of my assets include items that they wouldn't be able to trace.

Most likely, it is just a scare, but they also must send a 'courtesy' letter of intent. So in either case, you have time. They must subpoena you, then you have days to respond, after your response still days. If you do not respond, they will certainly get a default Judgment. You don't want that. When do you intend to file?

Keep us posted as you have the best (unofficial) advice you can get in the World here. 'Hub

Thanks for the info. I don't plan to file. I'm unemployeed (a housewife) and my husband doesn't make enough for them to garnish wages. Also, one thing I spaced out in adding when I posted is that my DH owns his vehicle outright and mine has too much equity in it for us to keep both cars if we filed.
