Sprint is trying to screw me over... need advice!

Ok, WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAy back in August, I canceled my Sprint phones, because of random service shut down, no service while traveling, and a host of billing problems.

I knew that when I canceled that I would owe them a $100.00 cancellation fee, and was fine with this.

When I canceled, I should have owed them roughly $150.00, give or take a couple of dollars. However, for the past five months, they have sent me a bill in excess of $450.00!!!!

I have called at least six times to correct this, and every time, I am told that it is fixed, that it was a computer glitch, etc, and get the runaround. The last time, I called I asked to speak to a manager, and was hung up on.

To this day, I have not received a corrected bill, and I won't pay them a dime until i do. I have told them this in writing, and over the phone. (They are also nice to ask me to make a payment over the phone, after they "correct" my bill. I refuse. I want something in writing!!)

So to make a long story short, yesterday, I received a notice of collection on my account for the full $450.00. I called them immediately, and told them my story, and they offered to save my credit report, and "settle" for $256.00. I told them no, and hung up on them. The letter also stated that if I didn't pay within 30 days, they would report me to the credit bureau. All for a debt that I don't owe!!!

Anyone have ANY suggestions? I am royally pissed off and frustrated. I don't like doing business on the telephone, but doing things in writing don't seem to get anything accomplished.

I also don't want those bastards reporting false information on my credit report. And I don't want to pay anymore than what I feel is fair, and what I owe......

Write them a letter that you want verification (including any & all documents from Sprint) to support the alleged debt, and that you dispute it.

Also-stay off the phone. Communicate only in writing.
Most of my information is from personal experience or HOURS and HOURS of online research. When you're searching online, keep in mind there is no guarantee that the info is completely up to date, and your situation is unique from anyone else's. Do your homework, and consult with an attorney so you can make an informed decision.

I have sent three letters unanswered from Sprint. The last one was sent Certified a month ago.

I think you're right about that phone though. I want things in writing only!

You'll need to send your demand to the CA-they should not be able to report anything to the bureaus while a verification request is in progress. It won't resolve the situation w/ Sprint, but it SHOULD keep the CA in line.

Just keep inundating Sprint with letters delivered via certified mail, and Cc: all three CRA's too! If you have to consider send copies of your problems to Sprints higher ups! Doing so can actually be of some benefit too! You should be able to get names of CEOs, VPs etc via google.

          Good Luck!

            Tinroofrusted,

He who stays cool, contacts the "big man", demands proof, usually will "win"!!!

Good Luck, let us know what happens,

                Sprint Sucks!

Another way to help you have them respond really quickly is to report them to the Better Business Bureau (BBB). It helped me when a maniac collector harassed me causing me an axiety attack by calling my house of 56 times in a row. I contacted the BBB because he would not let me talk to someone who was his manager or a CEO and he claimed the only person above him was "God." That was grounds for harassment and I contacted a lawyer and the BBB. The BBB worked faster than the attorney because I got a quick response from someone there other than a regular Customer Service Representative. He no longer was able to call my home and settled my account for the amount that I wanted to settle it for.

You can contact them via website and fill out a complaint there. I believe Sprint is located in California so you need to contact the BBB in California. I just tried to get the website but the California area has more than one office.

Also I did some research and a bunch of other irrate Sprint customers got the same rude treatment from the staff so they contacted the Corporate office and immediate action was taken. The corporate office is located in Overland Park, KS ask for the Executive Office and some spoke to a Marsha the number is 913-794-0000. Explain your situation and I am sure they will be able to help you out. I hope!!!!

Well I hope this helped! Happy New Year! And Keep Smilin!
