    Debt collector goes to jail!

    #2
    Yeah!!

    But he basically got a slap on the wrist for what he did.

    Small fine. Short jail time. And only having to repay monies he extorted.

    What about all the GRIEF and PAIN he caused people?? The Mental Abuse??!!

    I vote we go back to public punishments. Put him in a stockade and let victims toss rotten, old produce at his head!!

      Yeah, I thought a more approirate sentence would have been several years in jail. Hopefully, part of the plea agreement is, he's banned from the industry.
      Another good reason to record phone calls.

        debts were "all legitimate, but some were to old". he got a low priced lawyer I'm sure! Doesn't beyond the statute of limitations make the debt dissappear thus making it illegitimate? I mean you are extorting money, NOT OWED and you get a fine and a short time in jail? If the debt is forgiven by the law then it should be a crime akin to theft.

        At least he got 270 days, so for 271 days someone will have peace.

            There are only 2 states where the SOL extinguishes the debt making it illegal to even try and collect. {Wi and Ms.}
            In the other states, you may attempt to collect but the SOL makes it illegal to sue on the account.
