Will I get ANYTHING in the mail?

Our former MTG company's attorney was very efficient and within days I usually had whatever was posted to PACER in hand in the mail. Well, our foreclosure sale was September 20th and I haven't heard a word other than a letter from the mortgage company telling me that they got notice that I canceled the insurance on the house.

I had called my attorney and she said it would be just fine to do that, so I did.

Will I get anything at all in the mail to let me know 100% I no longer own that house?

You can either find the website for your local registry of deeds and look up there to see if they have recorded this transaction yet - this would show the owner being someone else.

Or, you can go to call the registry of deeds itself and look it up yourself. There would likely be someone there who could help you.

Thanx Boscoe! I went to the website, but there's no database, so it looks like I'll have to call.

I called this afternoon and there was a deed filed naming the Mortgage Holder as the owner, I guess, what else would it have said? She mentioned a redemption period, but since we surrendoured it in the BK, I assume we only have 30 days instead of the typical 6 months. Does that sound about right? So, I guess we're free and clear AND I got my discharge today! Too bad our daughter is sick, we'd go celebrate. Of course, it'd probably Burger King or something, but hey I think this deserves some sort of celebration!
