Will auto insurances go UP after filing????

    Hi guys~
I am wondering if any of you had trouble with your auto insurances raising your premiums after you filed...
    Anyone?? Thanks!

    I haven't paid more

I filed in April and my auto insurance renewal came in the mail at the end of June. My premium for full coverage in NY is 1200 every 6 months and has been the same since I have been with this company since 2004. Well I started to shop around figuring can I get lower rates and Progressive, Esure and Insweb gave me quotes double this amount for the same period of time with less coverage than I have now, so I figured forget it, my BK filing most definitely affected these quotes. When you apply online, they mention that CR's will be pulled in connection with the application. What gives anyway? I have never had my insurance cancelled due to nonpayment or any other factor. It just sucks that they use this info to judge whether or not to issue you a policy or one that has a sky high premium. I think personally that the CR weighs in more with some companies than if you are accident prone.

    Just my Opinion - JMO

    Hooters MC: $1700
    First Premier Platinum MC: $450
Orchard Bank MC: $300 Juniper Visa :$600
    Target Card: $200 Capital One:$1500

I think my 20+ year history with the company with no accidents that were my fault should mean more than any credit report.

My agent knows I'm filing since I had contacted him for suggestions on lawyers since he knows the community so well.

Our car insurance payments haven't changed after filing, and since we pay the company monthly, they could easily have upped our payments or canceled us if they wanted to. This company also owned one of our credit cards so we filed against them on that side of their business - we were nervous about that connection. However, we've had our auto insurance and our life insurance with this same company for more than 25 years with only a few claims all that time - maybe that's helping?
