hi. new to the forum. I am in a bad situation. I have 40,000 of cc debt that has accumulated in the last 2 mths. How long should I wait to file and should I try to make min. pymnts? How likely are these creditors to dispute my discharge?
Why exactly did you accumulate $40,000 in just 2 months? You will have to wait a minimum of 60 days to file, but you are better off waiting 12 months if you hold on.
because I am an idiot. I have a gambling prob. Actually, I could have paid for this, but two weeks ago, my husband informs me that he is changing jobs and he is taking a 24K pay cut. That is where the prob. stems. I was going to wait until Aug to file, but should I wait longer. My attny seems like none of this is a big deal and he keeps telling me that "adversary mtgs are rare"
Well, you should probably speak with an attorney. However, if the debt is mostly gambling related, you should probably wait at least a year before filing a BK to avoid most objections. However, a local attorney will have better insight.
