Will the court tell me if plaintiff filed for BK in another county?

I won a judgement against a person who failed to pay me back a loan payment as per contract agreement. I understand this person is filing for bankruptcy...in the same state but in a different county. How can I find out if indeed he has filed for bankruptcy? Since I won the judgement, shouldn't the court where I filed notify me? Or should the firm handling the bankruptcy at the other end?

Normally, you would be listed on that persons filing as a creditor, and you would be automatically notified of the filing by official mail from the court. However, if you were not listed in the filing, you won't be notified of squat. You can logon to pacer to search by the persons name to find out on your own.

That's what I thought--and thank you for the reply. I also figured that I could probably access recent bankruptcy filings in the county where he lives to see if his name appears in public records.

My next question is that even tough I won the judgement, I did not finalise as far as file writ of garnishment paperwork yet. Now that I know he is working full time and has a mailing address, I can easily serve summons. He has notified me that my judgement is at the top of the credor's list of four or five leinholders (is that the right word there?). It's just that he says he was filing for personal bankruptcy for a couple months now, and I have had no verification of this.
