    Carmax Appraisal for 2000 4Runner!

Bit the bullet & drove to Tampa on Friday morning to Carmax per my lawyer's request.

4Runner appraised at $5K. he he he....That's what they call the wholesale price they'd write me a check on the spot....so, emailed my lawyer w/appraisal attached & waiting to see if he wants me to email it to trustee...

Maybe with this info they won't want the beast????

If they take the $1k they have to give me, now the vehicle is down to $4K plus what needs repair....is it worth it????

    Thoughts?

Refresh my memory, do you owe anything on the vehicle?

        Oh yeah.

If the trustee can turn over the lien, he will probably take it. If the trustee could realize $2,500 on the sale ($1000 to you for exemption), the $1,500 the trustee would get is more than enough to cover his costs.

Ya think? I think if they run that suv through the auction, with the work it needs it may clear $1,500.....are they that needy?

            P.s.

....probably why they're trying to get out of having the lien with my mother on it taken care of, right?

I'd try to keep it myself, if possible. On the open market, private party etc., you'd have a hard time fetching under 10k for it.

Here's the deal and how I'm looking at it....when my xmother-in-law took me to the auctions in NY & PA....we once bought a two year old (my first) 4Runner (1995) with 70k miles for $4,500 in 1997...remember this is an real auction price...I think it was Bordentown....2 years old!!! I paid $14,500 for the beast when it was 3 years old with 60K miles....notice the mark up????

Ok..that said...now the trustee, I am thinking, is going to auction off this 4runner at a car auction....and I'm thinking possibly Orlando, 'cause that's the big one in FL....

If a 2year old 4Runner with no problems and 70K miles goes for $4,500...what in the world do you think a six almost 7 year old 4Runner with 110K miles, in need of brakes, a starter, power antenna, new rear bumper and quarter panel, plus catalytic converters????? HELLO

I'm thinking the answer is, "not so much!" at the auction...

IS IT WORTH IT TO THE TRUSTEE?????:

                Am I thinking logically here?

Is it worth it..., Unfortunately, if the trustee can "clear" $1,000, it will be worth it to the Trustee.

We are all looking forward to hearing what actually happens in this case.

God love ya!!! Me too!!! Trustee has the info...my lawyer (who won't be there) but does have the info...said he could have a lawyer stand in for me for $50.....not....

The only reason I'd buy the fact that the value could actually be that low, is high fuel costs for suv's. Otherwise, used toyotas/hondas go for 50% of the original retail sticker price after 6 years.

                        Amis,..............

Do you have actual Shop Estimates in writing for the repairs that are needed??!!

We did that with our vehicles in order to get them in under our Exemption limit. Went and got written Repair Estimates for the body repairs needed to bring the vehicles to full book value.

If you haven't documented all this stuff, get some estimates done and take the paperwork with you to your Hearing.

How can they achieve that? Isn't a lien a secured interest?

Shouldn't your mother protect her interest then?

In my motion to compel, the trustee is not recognizing the lien as being valid.

I'm not sure if I have time to get written estimates....court date is tomorrow and I'm working until 5 p.m. today.

All the repair work is listed on the Carmax report.....? I'll call Toyota today as they may have a record of the work needed since they did give me a figure for it a year and a half ago when I took it in....check engine light's been on since April of 2005
