filing bankruptcy after selling home

i have been in debt for over 2 years for about $500,000 from a business i no longer have. i haven't filed bankruptcy yet. i recently sold my home and made approx a sixth of what i owe which i paid my friends off for helping me with my house payments, utilities, etc. i need to file bankruptcy. is there a time period after you sell your house that you can file bankruptcy???

Check with a lawyer in your state. I went to a few to interview before i filed. I had no assets except my business and it was able to be excepted.
