    M.R.S. Associates...?

Anyone deal with these people? Apparently, they've called my parent's house. How they know my parent's phone number is beyond me. I'm in the process of filing bankruptcy. I called this number from a payphone and all they will say is that they are trying to collect a debt.

Okay...which one I ask? I think because I was on a blocked number, they didn't like it. They asked if I could prove who I was....

They had better not begin to call my parents, for they are in their 60's. They don't need this kind of harrassment.

Anything I can do or how I can find out what account? This woman was so rude it wasn't funny. I saw their site on the internet, but no idea how to find out what it's for.

Should I try to call again tomorrow and see what's up? And, what do I say to let them know NOT to call my parent's house?

I just went to court today to get my divorce in high gear and now these phone calls may be starting...

Anyone know any creditor that may be going thru this company in particular?

    Thanks!

You can stop a debt collector from contacting you or your parents by writing a certified, return-receipt letter to the collector telling them to stop. Once the collector receives your letter, they may not contact you again except to say there will be no further contact or to notify you that the debt collector or the creditor intends to take some specific action.

The National Consumer Law Center explains how to deal with debt collectors at
http://www.consumerlaw.org/action_ag...llection.shtml . There's also a good sample "cease" letter to use to tell this creditor to stop all contact.

Let us know if the letter works. If the collectors continues to call you after they receive the letter, then you can file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at https://rn.ftc.gov/pls/dod/wsolcq$.s..._ORG_CODE=PU01

Of course, after you file, this collector will be stopped dead in their tracks by the automatic stay

Thanks for the info! I just don't want my parents involved now.
