"All lawyers are crooks and criminals. They will promise you the moon and deliver a rock they found in the gutter on the side if the street."

That was her comment when I suggested that I have a meeting with a local BK lawyer.

She said also said the following when I said I would locate a reputable one , "an honest lawyer is an oxy moron".

That one was kind of funny. Not sure how I can find a BK attorney that she would even slightly trust.

Do you have any assets to protect?

Do you have any judgments to deal with?

Do you have any complications to deal with?

If you answered yes to any question, then I would highly suggest using an attorney. You can go to as many free initial consultations with as many BK attorneys as you can find in your area, and you'll probably find at least one who is worth the money you'll spend on them.

But if your case is simple and straightforward, you could just file for BK without an attorney and save the money.

2. You are not going into business partnership with a lawyer. You just need one to get the job done.

3. Therefore, you don't need to be concerned with their honesty or integrity, just as long as they get the job done correctly.


4. After talking to several lawyers and they all tell you the same thing about your case, then her confidence in the outcome will be strengthened.
