If I file BK and then move, having to open a new savings and checking account at a new back, is it hard to do? I got the impression from some other posts that it is. WHat is the risk for the bank in having me as a customer? It would suck if I couldnt open a checking account.

Why would you need to open a new bank account? Unless you bank with a local credit union or something that is not in your new location. Generally, unless one of the debts you discharge in the BK is an overdraft on a checking or savings account, you should have no problem opening a new checking account, (But there is no guarantee).
Best option, open a bank account with a National bank before you file BK.

You really shouldn't have a problem opening a bank account after discharge of your BK. But again, it depends on the banks inteneral policy. If all your doing is opening a checking account, they really shouldn't pull your credit.Originally posted by babalacoWell right now I have my checking and savings account through my employer's credit union. When I move to start a new job, I would be opening an account with a large national bank. Non of the debt that I will eventually discharge is tied to my credit union.
