    credit counseling

I used the site CCCS last week to obtain the counseling credit certificate and i just got an email saying that i have been qualified for their debt management program and they will send me a plan package for my review so they can negotiate with creditors.

I am confused now, i thought i would just get a certificate. I entered my information, i am below the median and can barely pay my expenses. Anyone had experience with CCCS?

    Thanks

Yikes! You may not have taken the right course. The course you need to take is the pre-filing bankruptcy credit counseling course, not the debt management course. Can you go back and check?
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

Tried to log in back but i can't anymore, there's some number i have to call to proceed with the counseling.

So maybe that's what happened, i went to the wrong place, the site is very confusing to me and i probably messed it up. Since i haven't paid anything (there was no mention of any kind of payment), i will go with hummingbird that seems to be simpler to use.

      Thanks

Keep in mind...this "pre-bk" course is a marketing tool for Credit Counseling Services. Regardless if you qualify for one of their programs, you should still get the certificate (assuming of course, you took the right course). The course does not simply require you to put in information, you have to sit their and listen to someone actually give a lecture.

          my 2 cents

please call them...my atty uses greenpath. he gave me his code.
i called them and they accepted it. I had to pay 50.00 for this and couldn't get it waived. I spent the next 90 min on the telephone talking about my income, debts, creditors etc. the girl was wonderful...very kind...at the end, she asked about a repayment plan and I said this was not an option...she emailed me a copy of my credit management course completion certificate and as soon as I faxed my atty the certificate, the case was filed electronically and immediately...not wanting to wait, the next night I arranged to take the debtor edu course..
this was 50.00 also....I had to study a 100 page workbook
and take a 25 question multiple choice test over the internet.
then I had to call greenpath and talk to a counseler for another
hour or so...she gave me my test results and kind of questioned me some more throughout the conversation...again no repayment
plan as an option....just budgeting short term goals after the bk is closed, etc...she then emailed me copy of this certificate
which atty sent to the bk court.....both were incredibly easy to get....more listening than anything....call them though and tell them you need your credit counseling certificate and there is no repay plan if you are in chpt 7....get it right away because you can't file till you have it.....good luck...guzzie
