My Mom just called today. She and her 3rd DH are divorcing. She's on Disability and gets Social Security. She will be on these forever (or until they take them away). She'll never be able to work again.
Anyway, she lives in a manufactured Home community, a nice one. She can't afford to stay there so she told the owner to re-possess the house already.
She has a mortgage on it. This is the advice I gave her:
Keep paying the lot rent (so they can't kick you out of the park for non-payment)
Stop paying on the mortgage and make GreenTree foreclose on it.
I figured she'll have a little time to maybe save up some money to move.
Was that good advice?
She's judgement proof at this point, so there's no point in filing BK right? Should she stop paying anything that isn't necessary then?
Thanx a ton!
PS - I forgot to add she's in Michigan.
