    Here's another ?

I have to submit 6months of bank statements-will they scrutinize what I have been spending my money on each month?
Or will they just be concerned with my bank balance on the day I file?
    THANKS!

CB, are you submitting the bank statements to your lawyer or to your trustee?

Lawyers will ask for your bank statements sometimes before you file to get a better sense of your ongoing living expenses for the bk forms.

If the bank statements are for your trustee, it could be that your trustee prefers to see the statements for him/herself. If your trustee has asked for your last six months of bank statements after your case was filed, then he/she may have seen something in your forms that he wants to investigate further. Both situations are not the norm.

Typically no one cares how you got into debt and your spending won't be scrutinized. The exception will be if you've spent a large amount of money in a short period of time or if you made luxury purchases during the last six months. Those can be a red flag for a trustee.
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

Lrprn, my trustee only asked for three months bankstatements, is that normal. Reading a few post some trustees ask for 8 months - 3 months, what the difference???
Success is reachable, stretch out your arm and grab it.

Differences between trustees is all. Some don't ask for any bank statements, some want a few months, some want the full six months. Just one of those differences from court to court and trustee to trustee.

Shortly before my first scheduled 341 hearing, the trustee requested several items including: bank statements and cancelled checks from Jan 2005 until my filing date with the request that I indicate what each transaction was for (both desposits and withdrawels). I was not going to be able to obtain that stuff in time for the hearing which is why I was told not to go by the jerk that I was stupidly getting my advice from. I should have went and just told them I didn't have access to them in the short amount of time I was given to obtain the documents.
