Posting to old threads?

Why is it against forum rules?

I did searches on things we had questions on and those threads were very helpful.

I apologize but didn't see anything in the rules about old threads. Can you please point that out to me so I can read it? Thank you kindly. Just trying to help g/f with questions she came up with after we say our attorney.

I agree with Mr. Blade that the old threads are helpful and have lots of good info.

If the administrators of this site don't want posting to old threads, then they should be locked after a period of time to prevent this. If this is going to be the case, please let everyone know what that time limit is. 30 days after the last post?

All old threads are there to seach infomation from, but the main reason we don't want them brought back up and started with new postings is because the laws have changed in the last 2 years.

We as Mods would rather you start a new thread with your questions to we can supply you with more current information.

Each case is different and sometimes we will refer you to a specific thread where the case is like yours. This often helps you to understand circumstances and what your going to be up against.

The seach feature also allows members to see how others handled different problems and situations that arose during their bankruptcy.

If it will help we can arrange to have old threads locked to keep people from posting in them anymore but yet they will be there for reference.

Why is it against forum rules?

As Minny noted, it's because the information in old threads can be out of date. It's easy to miss that a post was made many months, even years ago and the information there is no longer accurate because of changes in the bk law in Oct 2005 or due to recent bk court case decisions.

Also members have a tendency to ask questions of members who are long gone from our forum or provide answers to their question as you did. It's a waste of the new member's time because the old member is never going to see the new member's question or the new member's answer to long-gone member's original question.
