Letters from collections, do anything in response?

I am a couple of months away from filing chapter 7. Anytime one of my creditors calls, i refer them to my attorny. Well, it seems after this they sell the debt to an outside collections agency. Then the colections agency starts sending me letters. Do I need to send a response refering them to my attny? Call them and refer them? Nothing?

I would say to send them a letter so you don't get stuck on the phone with them. Sometimes, these debt collectors can be quite sneaky and get you to agree to payment. Obviously, if they call, you would give them your atty's. info like you've been doing.

Since you are a couple of months from filing, DO NOT tell the collectors what timeframe you will be filing. If they want to know, let your atty. inform them. HSBC kept naggin us before we filed and we were instructed to only tell them who the atty was, the phone, mailing address and what Chapter.......nothing else.

Give anything that you receive from collection agencies to your attorney. If the agency calls you just give them the name/number of your attorney.
