    Serious Question here..Advice needed..

Ok , My daughter is right in the middle of treatment with an orthodontist, her braces were put on about 8 months ago....We had no choice but to include the debt in the BK acording to our lawyer...The total cost is about $6500 dollars for her care ...

This is putting us in a stressfull situation....they called and told us they recived notice of the BK...That was terribly embaressing...My concern is can they just stop treating her? I mean she has braces on now? they are due to come off next summer and then she will need a reatiner? How do we handle this?
we cant make the monthly payment that we were making...out of all the debt..this one bugs me the most and she needs the care...On the other hand I certainly see the doctors point and he is about to be out over 5 grand...Should we work out a smaller payment plan?

Its the only thiong that bothered me that our lawyer said...she told us that once the braces come of in the summer just walk away and stop paying? it bugged me because we have gotton to know the orthodontict and he treats our daughter good...anyway..How would you all handle this?

would you pay all of it? or would you walk away when treatment was over? pay alot less?? please need the advice...My wife is to embaressed to go in there and talk to them about it...but we need to..

YOu can keep making payments and continue to see them, we did.

You all really need to stop feeling embarassed. It's life and they understand. Go talk to them and you might work something out.

Just my opinion, but I would pay him.

I didn't feel bad for the CC companies when we BK'ed them, primarily because they just kept helping my wife to dig the financial hole that much deeper and then turned into vultures once everything hit the fan, but I made sure that all of the small, local businesses were paid. All they had done was provide fuel to heat my home, fixed my kids teeth, and provided the health care and medicines that we needed to maintain our health.

This orthodontist has done nothing except to help care for your daughter and I'm sure that he has bills to pay and mouths to feed also and can't be expected to work for free. Perhaps you can arrange to make smaller payments until you are back on your feet. I'm not standing in your shoes though, so I don't want to sound too judgemental. Good luck.

Nothing in the bk code says you can't make payment arrangements post bk.
Go see the office manager and work something out.

            Well said!
The kind DR would rather get $25/mo than $0/mo.

I had a large bill with my dentist and did exactly that. I worked out payments with him.

I could not imagine not paying the poor guy. After all, he is a small business, not a major cc company.
