Were I you, I'd not file until you can get your HH budget balanced. A $1500/month deficit is serious. You have to be able to support yourself post bk. What will you accomplish by filing and still running an annual deficit of $18K a year?
It may well be time to cut the teenager that lives outside your home loose {unless you have some sort of domestic relations court order to support him}.

keepmine, I agree. I've already paid my filing fee and my attorney says I have to file in 6 weeks or the case is closed? Has anyone ever heard of this? I thought I was doing us both a favor by paying right now while I have the money...I think I should be able to wait a year if I want to? They're getting the interest on the money, right? I have been planning to file in December, so I may go ahead and do it anyway...the interesting/scary part will be if I am forced into a 13 because my income is above the median. I have been waiting until December to get a bonus out of my 6 month average income.

As far as balancing the budget, I think I can achieve it via the following:
      1) Spouse gets job.
      2) I take the pre-schooler out of pre-school (aka daycare.)

Other than that, I don't have too much room in the budget, except for closely managing expenses.
